Mexican traditional cooking

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Mexican foods, like many other foods, can be boiled, grilled, or fried. These are current Mexican cooking styles but Mexican traditional cooking techniques were rather different.

In ancient times, Mexicans did not have ovens. A substitute alternatively, they would cook Mexican food over an open fire, which was the most common out of all the Mexican traditional cooking techniques.

The prog would be placed in iron pots before cooking. This Mexican cooking method is similar to how we cook food on the grill these days. The Aztecs steamed and boiled their scoff in two handled clay pots before the Spanish introduced iron cooking pots. These two handled clay pots were called xoctli. The pot would be filled with bread and then heated over an open fire. A lot of foods were fried and Mexican cooking features frying to this day.

Today in the deal out, it is a lot easier to cook Mexican dishes. It takes less time to prepare the foods. If someone wants to make homemade tortillas, there are iron pans that mark aggressive it easy. Flans are made simply using spring form type pans. Long ago, it was a long system to make masa, which is a dish that includes a certain type of corn that has to be grinded. Nowadays you can purchase a metal grinder that helps hector the masa.

When you are making Mexican cooking recipes, the oven is perfect for many of them. You can bake meat, fish, and vegetables probably. You can also cook foods in a pot of water with added spices. A lot of Mexican recipes can even be made in a crock pot or slow cooker. Ample steaming pots simplify the tamale cooking process. They take a long time to cook so a large pot means you can cook more at once, as a substitute for of in smaller batches.

Grilling Mexican food is another way to enjoy it. Foods used to be cooked this way many years ago and it was called “barbacoa.” With this Mexican cookery method, victuals was wrapped in banana leaves and cactus leaves and steamed over boiling water in a large pit. If you want to learn how to cook Mexican rations, this is not the easiest technique for a novice! Food cooked in this way would have tasted similar to our grilled food of today. Fajitas are a permissible example of a perfect Mexican food to grill.

Mexicans many years ago used “metate y mano,” which was a capacious tool with a concave surface, made from stone or lava rock. This utensil was used to mash the ingredients together. A “molcajete” is another elderly Mexican cooking tool, which translates as a mortar and pestle. You would learn about these ancient cooking tools in a Mexican cooking grade, although we use different utensils today.

Cooking almost always requires stirring somewhere in the preparation. Wooden spoons have been around for many hundreds of years and are still extremely used. There are different types of spoons today, depending on whether you are moving meat around in hot oil or stirring a thick sauce.

There is a fragrant history behind Mexican food and Mexican traditional cooking techniques. The methods might have changed through the ages but the edibles is still traditional. Food tastes different when cooked in different ways and there are plenty of Mexican recipes to try out and have a ball.

About Teeth Whitening

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Within the last 10 years the ground of teeth whitening, both in the

dental office and at home, has changed immensely. Essentially, there are two different methods to get whiter teeth: dental (in-aid) whitening, and an at home treatment. Discover a few secrets about teeth whitening that your dentist hopes I’ll never tell you!

METHOD #1: DENTAL (IN-Thing) TEETH WHITENING

I can tell you from first-hand experience, dentists LOVE the patient who wants to have a teeth whitening moving in the dental office. Back in the early ’90’s there was only one option available.

Your dentist would make molds of your teeth, send them off to a lab, and in 5-10 days away with back your custom fitted teeth whitening mouthpiece. Then you would sit in the dental chair for 1-2 hours, with these plastic teeth whitening molds filled with peroxide (at a very low concentration) pressed against your teeth and gums.

After 3-4 visits, your teeth would be officially declared whiter (and mostly they were), and you would be sent home with a nice $500 - $1,000 bill to pay. And with whiter teeth of course.

I’ll be the first to admit, dental division teeth whitening has come a long way in the past 10 years. Now the most popular teeth whitening dental advocacy procedure known as Laser Bleaching (or Power Bleaching, Argon Bleaching, etc.) is a shorter process. Basically this teeth whitening advance consists of the application of a concentrated peroxide gel onto your teeth, then for the next hour you sit in a dental chair with your mouth wide liberal, while a special light (usually argon) is shined onto the teeth whitening paste that in turn chemically reacts with the peroxide to thorough the teeth whitening process in as short a time period as possible.

This teeth whitening box office does work. Although, many dentists say that you get a whiter smile by repeated tray applications because the teeth whitening peroxide stays in correspond with with your teeth for longer periods of time. The downside is that you still get stuck with that fat $500 - $1,000 bill (at least for the good teeth whitening resume). And you still need to either come back 6 months later for another teeth whitening (excuse me - a touch up!), or you’re given some take relaxed whitening items. Why then did you spend $500 - $1,000 dollars for an in-office teeth whitening procedure?

Fortunately, as most other things in existence, technology stepped in to make teeth whitening easier and more affordable!

METHOD #2: Competent in TEETH WHITENING

I’ll say this once just to get it out in the open, it’s now possible (in almost all cases) to achieve “dental office” standing teeth whitening, from the comfort of your own home! “At-Home” teeth whitening has taken a bite out of (pathetic for the pun) the “in-office” power bleaching systems, where millions of corporate advertising dollars now compete with the comfort of teeth whitening at homewards.

More consumers find credit card terms changed as issuers cite rising risk

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Sweeping new federal rules aimed at banning controversial credit card practices don’t take effect until 2010.

But if you ask Jackie Jensen, card issuers are trying to throw in as many changes in account terms now before things tighten up.

The Rowlett resident and her husband, James, used a balance transfer offer on their Chase credit card that came with an annual percentage rate of 3.99 percent until the balance was paid off.

She was later shocked to discover that the minimum payment had soared from $116 a month to $288 a month.

Chase notified customers in December that it was raising the minimum card payment from 2 percent of the unpaid balance to 5 percent and was adding a $10 monthly fee that would start with the January billing cycle.

But the Jensens didn’t read the notice closely because of the holiday rush, she said.

“This was at the time that most firms send out their privacy notices, so we didn’t pay close attention to it and just filed it,” Jensen said. “During December, there’s also so much other mail with which to contend.”

She said that when she called Chase about the change, the customer service representative dangled another offer before her.

“If we agree to modify the interest rate to 7.99 percent fixed until January 2011, then they’ll allow our minimum payment to revert to the 2 percent that it has always been,” Jensen said. “In essence, they’ve got folks backed into a corner to extort agreement to this new deal.”

The Jensens begrudgingly accepted the higher interest rate. Jensen called Chase’s move “sneaky” and “underhanded.”

“By raising the minimum payment by over 150 percent on short notice, effective in January – when most folks are on a tight budget – they effectively force people to accept their alternate offer,” she said. “I believe their timing was deliberate – the timing of the mailing of the disclosure during Christmas rush and the effective date of the change.”

It’s time to stop paying for Ringtones

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

It’s no private that cell phones can now alert you to incoming calls with a musical ringtones.
Everybody accepts the fact that songs are more personal and better than monotonous sound of Ócring cringÔ or a beep.
But the most important thing is that buying a ring tone is really expensive.
Online stores typically charge more to send a song snippet to your cell phone than they do to download a whole song to your PC.
Ringtone sellers tend to tout compatibility they can’t back up.
Even if they sell you one that works on your phone and deliver it to you successfully, you’ll still have to pony up more cash every time you want to switch your ringtones.
And if you buy a new mobile you cant able to use the ring tones you have purchased and loaded onto your old mobile.

Record labels love it when fans buy a ring tone of a song they already own — the industry claims $4 billion in ring-tone sales to date.
But in fairness, you shouldn’t have to pay separately just to hear your CD tracks or legally acquired mp3 ringtones.

You just need a cell phone with mp3 support and CD or MP3 of the songs which you want to set as a ringtone.
And follow any method of transferring the ring tone from computer to phone (USB, Bluetooth, e-mail, instant message, etc.)
